Armenia and Iran are in talks to establish an agreement for a simplified "customs corridor," according to Eduard Hakobyan, Chairman of Armenia's State Revenue Committee, who made the announcement on Friday.
“Negotiations on signing a simplified customs corridor agreement between Armenia and Iran are in progress and are expected to conclude soon,” Hakobyan said at a press conference, The Caspian Post reports citing Armenian media.
The SRC Chairman also provided updates on cooperation with Georgia.
“We are discussing a joint checkpoint and have formed a working group to provide combined services at the Gogavan-Guguti section,” he said.
Hakobyan added that cooperation with the United States has also resumed with significant momentum, focusing on capacity development, the procurement of customs system equipment, and the implementation of certain smart monitoring systems.
