The European Commission will soon provide Armenia with an additional €18 million to strengthen trade and expand the country's export capacity, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced during a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.
Von der Leyen said that the funding will support Armenia's trade diversification efforts and could be used to establish an Export Promotion Agency, designed to help Armenian businesses increase exports and access new international markets, The Caspian Post reports via Arka.am.
The €18 million package represents the final installment of the €52 million assistance package discussed by the two sides earlier this year, following an initial €34 million disbursement in mid-June.
With the latest funding, total EU financial support for Armenia will reach €288 million.
Von der Leyen said Armenia continues to face significant economic pressure from Russia, describing the situation as a form of "economic coercion."
She also said that the European Union always stood by its partners when they came under pressure.
Von der Leyen reaffirmed Brussels' commitment to supporting Armenia's economic resilience.
The European Commission also announced that the EU and Armenia will hold a High-Level Dialogue in Yerevan before the end of 2026 to review progress on reforms under the country's Multi-Sector Budget Support Programme and discuss the next phase of cooperation.
