Azerbaijan, D-8 Explore New Chapter in Economic and Media Cooperation

Azerbaijan is looking to strengthen its economic and media ties with the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation following high-level talks held on the sidelines of the third Global Media Forum in Shusha.

Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant of the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, met with Ambassador Mustafa Özcan, Secretary General of the D-8, to discuss expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the eight-member economic bloc, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

In addition to economic matters, Ambassador Özcan held a separate meeting with Ahmad Ismayilov, CEO of the Azerbaijan Media Development Agency, focusing on potential partnerships in media and communications.

The D-8 is a multilateral group of eight Muslim-majority countries-Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Türkiye -focused on advancing economic development and cooperation. The organization was initiated by Türkiye in 1996 and officially established at a summit in Istanbul in 1997. Its permanent secretariat is located in Istanbul.
