Azerbaijan and Russia have fully normalised their bilateral relations after overcoming a difficult period, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said during talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, in Moscow on July 17.
"Azerbaijan and Russia are neighbouring states united by centuries-old historical, cultural and humanitarian ties. Relations between our countries are characterised by allied interaction, while the strong and close ties between our peoples serve as a solid foundation for interstate relations," Bayramov said, The Caspian Post reports.
The minister acknowledged that the two countries had recently faced challenges in their bilateral ties but said they had successfully resolved them.
"In the recent past, we encountered certain difficulties in our bilateral relations. This was already noted during today's discussions. At the same time, we are pleased to state that our two countries have succeeded in overcoming this challenging period and fully normalising the entire spectrum of the Azerbaijan-Russia relations," he said.
Bayramov attributed the improvement in relations to the personal efforts of the leaders of both countries.
"I would particularly emphasise that the restoration of relations became possible thanks to the personal positions of the presidents of our countries. The normalisation process received decisive impetus following their bilateral meeting in October 2025 on the sidelines of an international event in Dushanbe," he said.
