A mud volcano eruption was recorded today at 4:53 p.m. local time in Azerbaijan’s Hajigabul district.
The eruption was detected by perivolcanic seismic stations operated by the Russian Center for Seismic Surveys (RCSS) under the National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.
The RSSS Department of Earthquake Focal Dynamics reported that the eruption lasted approximately 13 minutes and occurred in a single phase.
The focal depth was measured at 3 kilometers, with the total energy released during the eruption estimated at 3.38 × 10⁶ joules.
