Tajikistan's Foreign Ministry has announced a new visa-free travel arrangement between Tajikistan and Iran, set to begin on February 3, 2025.
This agreement follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed on November 8, 2023, in Dushanbe and approved by Tajikistan’s government decree on January 3, 2024, The Caspian Post reports, citing Tajik media.
Under the new rules, citizens of both Tajikistan and Iran holding ordinary passports will be able to travel visa-free for up to 30 days within any 90-day period by air. The Tajik government also supports the Iranian proposal for reciprocal visa-free entry for Iranian citizens to Tajikistan, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
It is important to note that the visa exemption applies only to air travel. Those traveling via third countries or land border crossings will still need to obtain the necessary visa.
