Azerbaijan’s Green Energy Ambitions Take Center Stage in Berlin Presentation

A presentation dedicated to the “Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor” project was held at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Berlin, co-organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany, the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, and the Green Energy Corridor Power Company (GECO).

In his opening remarks, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany Nasimi Aghayev highlighted the steady growth of Azerbaijani-German relations, particularly in the economic sphere, The Caspian Post reports, citing the embassy.

He stressed Azerbaijan’s increasing role as a regional hub, pointing to its active participation in the Middle Corridor initiative, strengthened ties with Central Asian countries, and continued progress toward peace with Armenia. According to the ambassador, these developments create significant opportunities for German businesses in areas such as trade, infrastructure, and logistics.

Alena Akulich, Regional Director for Eastern Europe, outlined the Association’s main areas of activity and its economic cooperation with Azerbaijan. She emphasized Azerbaijan’s expanding role as a key economic platform in the region and identified priority areas of partnership, including green energy, digital transformation, innovation, and institutional reform. Akulich also noted that the joint roadmap on trade, economics, and investment signed this year includes more than ten specific projects across the chemical industry, healthcare, digitalization, and green transition.

Farhad Mammadov, General Director of GECO, delivered an in-depth presentation on the Green Energy Corridor, discussing progress made in implementing the project and underscoring Azerbaijan’s active involvement in the process.

Other speakers at the event highlighted Azerbaijan’s adaptation to the global energy transition, drawing attention to the country’s considerable renewable energy potential and its plans to expand capacity through large-scale solar and wind energy projects.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, where participants engaged in productive discussions on the topic.
