Kyrgyzstan to Boost Electricity Imports from Kazakhstan’s Wind and Solar Plants in 2025

According to data from the energy holding Samruk-Energy, Kyrgyzstan is set to increase its electricity imports from Kazakhstan’s wind and solar power plants in 2025.

677.4 million kWh were purchased in the first quarter. This volume is equal to the consumption of the entire Kyrgyzstan for 10-14 days. In annual terms, supplies increased by 12.5%, The Caspian Post reports citing Akipress.

The electricity was supplied by Kazakhstan's Settlement and Financial Center for Support of Renewable Energy Sources.

The company is engaged in the centralized purchase and sale of electricity generated at wind, solar power plants and small hydroelectric power plants in Kazakhstan. Electricity imports from Kazakhstan exceeded 1 billion kWh in 2024.
