Ukraine places significant value on its strategic partnership with Azerbaijan and is focused on strengthening bilateral ties, said Ukrainian Minister of Energy German Galushchenko during the 13th meeting of the Azerbaijani-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on economic cooperation, according to a statement from the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry's press service.
Before the session, a meeting was held between the co-chairs of the commission, Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov and Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko, The Caspian Post reports.
“During the meeting, it was noted that bilateral relations are based on mutual trust and effective partnership. Gratitude was expressed for Azerbaijan’s ongoing humanitarian support to Ukraine. An exchange of views on the development of cooperation in various fields also took place,” reads the message.
The IGC meeting, held in a hybrid format, discussed the current state and potential opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, trade and industrial, energy, transport, scientific and educational, cultural spheres, as well as in the field of information and communication technologies.
Shahbazov said that the adoption of the Action Plan within the Commission will raise cooperation between the countries to a new level, will facilitate the widespread use of existing opportunities in energy, minerals, agriculture, and other promising areas, as well as in industrial parks and free economic zones.
Galushchenko said that the two countries are united by strong historical ties, mutual respect, a common vision of regional cooperation, and sustainable development.
"Ukraine attaches great importance to the strategic partnership with Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to support Ukraine with energy equipment, and this support in the energy sector played a vital role for us. We believe that this meeting will help identify new joint initiatives to strengthen the foundations of a long-term partnership between our countries," the minister added.
Following the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, a Protocol was signed and a decision was made to hold the 14th meeting of the IGC in Kyiv.
