Russia remains the dominant destination for Georgian blueberry exports, accounting for almost 95% of all overseas shipments.
Between May 1 and June 21, Georgia exported 2,200 tonnes of blueberries worth $15.7 million. Export volumes increased by 13% compared with the same period last year, while export revenue rose 12%, reflecting continued strong international demand, The Caspian Post reports via NewsGeorgia.
Russia imported 2,097 tonnes of blueberries during the period, far outpacing other markets. Armenia received 44 tonnes, followed by Germany with 30 tonnes and the United Arab Emirates with 18 tonnes.
The average export price reached $7.10 per kilogram.
This year's blueberry season has been challenging, with unfavorable weather delaying the harvest and growers facing a severe shortage of seasonal workers.
Despite these setbacks, the Georgian Blueberry Growers Association expects a record harvest in 2026. Production is forecast to increase by around 40%, with exports projected to reach 10,000 tonnes, up from 7,000 tonnes a year earlier, signaling strong growth for one of Georgia's fastest-expanding agricultural sectors.
