Why Trump’s “Golden Week” Might End Before It Begins: Ten Warning Signs

The end of the world is canceled - here comes the party. In US President Donald Trump’s American lexicon, this translates to: instead of civilization being destroyed in the Persian Gulf, a “Golden Era” is arriving. Everyone will be very happy and make lots of money. The key word here is make.

Doesn’t it sound familiar? Of course!

This is the plan to turn the Gaza Strip into a luxurious resort filled with five-star hotels and golf courses - a vision of peace and prosperity for land long scarred by decades of continuous bloodshed. First, all Palestinians would have to be relocated from the area, The Caspian Post reports via Russian news website.

By the way, Trump’s obsession with golf still awaits a dedicated psychiatrist-investigator. If, for Lenin, communism meant Soviet power plus electrification of the entire country, then for Trump, any conflict can apparently be solved by “golfifying” the territory where it occurs. The famous book on global politics by American political scientist and statesman Zbigniew Brzezinski, The Grand Chessboard, would, in Trump’s hands, be retitled The Great Golf Course.

It’s been five months since Trump’s Gaza plan - even endorsed by a UN resolution - yet the Palestinians refuse to leave their homeland, and their refusal is understandable. No country, not even for money, wants to accept them, and that too is understandable. Meanwhile, Hamas still controls Gaza, and Israel criticizes the UN resolution, arguing that the five-star hotels envisioned in the new resort could form the foundation of a future Palestinian state.

There was a well-known Georgian criminal authority, who spent 20 years in prison and led armed militants, and at one point was even the second most powerful person in the country after President Shevardnadze - Jaba Ioseliani. Among other things, he became famous for saying: “Democracy is not like eating lobio.” Perhaps these words could be redirected at Donald Trump: “Global politics is not like swinging a golf club.”

Trump’s Gaza peace plan hasn’t just failed - it never even got off the ground. Yet few talk or write about this, because Gaza isn’t responsible for transporting 20% of the world’s oil. With the Iran plan, it’s a different story. People won’t learn about its success or failures from the newspapers - they’ll see it at the gas pump. The fact that after Trump’s statement oil prices first plummeted to $91 and then immediately jumped back up to $94 is very telling.

The deep divisions over the Iran ceasefire became clear not after its announcement, but during it. Israel insists that the truce does not extend to Lebanon. Meanwhile, not only Iran but also the main mediator - Pakistan - believe that it does. Trump claims the Strait of Hormuz will reopen during these two weeks almost automatically, while Iran maintains that navigation there remains under its control.

Each of these disagreements could be a spark for a new war.

Yet, in my view, the “Golden Age” that Trump is predicting has already arrived - albeit for a slightly different reason.

The foundation for the peace talks wasn’t Trump’s “15 points,” which resemble a demand for Tehran’s unconditional surrender. Instead, the talks were based on Iran’s own “10 points,” which include U.S. compensation to Iran for bombings and destruction, the lifting of all sanctions - even UN sanctions - and many other provisions that the “global hegemon” had never even considered before.

The “Golden Age” is that the unipolar world is over. Trump is no longer the President of Peace.
