A Man Who Reported a Bomb Threat at the Airport Was Detained in Kazakhstan

On November 8, 2025, at Atyrau Airport, during check-in for the Atyrau-Almaty flight, a man falsely claimed to have an explosive device in his carry-on baggage, The Caspian Post informs via Zakon.kz.

Based on this incident, the Transport Police initiated a criminal case under Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Knowingly making a false report of an act of terrorism."

There were no casualties or injuries, and the airport is operating normally, the department clarified.

In accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, other information from the pre-trial investigation is not subject to disclosure.

In September, an 18-year-old foreigner caused a stir at Almaty airport by making a bomb joke.
