Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have conducted negotiations to update their Convention on the Elimination of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Tax Evasion.
The talks were held in Astana in the presence of experts of Azerbaijan’s State Tax Service and representatives of the Finance Ministries of both countries, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
During the discussions, the two sides reached agreement on the majority of provisions in the draft “Convention between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan on the Elimination of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Tax Evasion on Income and Property,” with the remaining points expected to be finalized soon.
The delegations also held consultations on transfer pricing, exchanging expertise and agreeing to deepen cooperation in this area.
For background, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan signed the original convention in September 1996, which came into force on January 1, 1998. In April 2017, a protocol was signed to amend the agreement by removing property-related clauses, which entered into force on January 1, 2019.
