Foreign Visitors in Kazakhstan Spend Most on Food and Local Goods, New Report Shows

New data from Kazakh Tourism reveals that international travelers to Kazakhstan are prioritizing local cuisine, hospitality, and cultural goods during their stay.

According to the findings, 27 per cent of visitors’ spending goes to food, highlighting strong interest in restaurants, cafés, and local gastronomy, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

Accommodation and purchases of consumer goods - including groceries, souvenirs, and locally made products - each account for 23 per cent of the budget.

Air travel represents about 12 per cent of expenses, while car rentals and sports or cultural activities make up 4 per cent each. Valuable items like jewelry, artwork, and antiques account for an additional 3 per cent.

Kazakh Tourism emphasizes that these patterns reflect visitors’ growing curiosity about local culture and culinary experiences.

Kazakhstan’s popularity is on the rise: Almaty was recently named the “capital of cool” in Central Asia and topped CNN Travel’s 2025 list of best places to visit, cementing the country as a must-see destination for international tourists.
