Authorities in western Kazakhstan have opened a criminal investigation after detaining two individuals in Atyrau on suspicion of knowingly exposing others to HIV.
According to the Atyrau Region Police Department, the suspects - aged 23 and 28 - had been registered at a specialized medical facility since December 2025 after being diagnosed with HIV. Despite this, investigators allege they continued providing paid intimate services while aware of their medical status, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
