Kazakh Economy Expands 6.3% Amid Rising Industry and Services

Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin has said that Kazakhstan’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.3 per cent in January-July 2025.

The real sector expanded 8.3 per cent, while services rose 5.2 per cent, The Caspian Post reports per Kazakh media.

Industry increased 6.9 per cent, led by mining (+8.5 per cent) and manufacturing (+6.1 per cent), and agriculture grew 3.7 per cent. The strongest growth came from transport and storage, which surged 22.5 per cent, reflecting intensified government investment in logistics infrastructure.

Zhumangarin emphasized that the growth aligns with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s target of doubling GDP by 2029, supported by investment stimulation, productivity gains, and expansion of the non-resource sector.

Analyst Gaziz Abishev noted on his Telegram channel that a large portion of the growth was driven by state spending, particularly in construction, which rose 18.5 per cent. Key regional contributions included Turkistan (+34.6 per cent) through school, rail, and road projects; Aktobe (+25.6 per cent) with school and road upgrades; and Zhambyl (+13.1 per cent) and East Kazakhstan (+5.9 per cent), supported by housing, healthcare, and power line projects.

Abishev cautioned that external risks, such as global oil price fluctuations and US trade policies, could slow momentum, while budget constraints limit further large-scale fiscal measures.
