Kazakh Juniors Win 11 Medals at Asian Chess Championship

Kazakhstan’s young chess talents have delivered a standout performance at the 27th Asian Youth Chess Championships in Bangkok, bringing home 11 medals - including five gold.

The continental event gathered around 700 participants from 33 countries, with competitions in classical, rapid, and blitz formats across multiple age groups, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

Kazakh players excelled in all three disciplines.

Classical chess gold went to Milana Filippova (Girls U10) and Maria Kholyavko (Girls U14), while teammates Rizat Ulan (U10), Adiya Zhenis (Girls U12), and Yasmina Alemanova (Girls U16) secured bronze.

In the rapid category, Amirzhan Anetov clinched gold (U10), and Alikhan Nazarbek added a bronze.

Kazakhstan wrapped up the tournament with strong results in blitz, earning gold medals from Alisher Abdsattar (U14) and Asia Asylkhan (Girls U16). Asman Bayantas (U18) won silver, and Alimzhan Zhauynbay (U12) claimed bronze.

The impressive results confirm Kazakhstan’s rising status in youth chess. Just last week, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the country’s World Chess Championship medalists, highlighting growing national support for the sport.
