On the sidelines of the third Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Central Asian States in Bishkek, Maulen Ashimbayev, Speaker of Kazakhstan’s Senate, met with Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Chair of Kyrgyzstan’s Jogorku Kenesh, to discuss the current state of bilateral relations.
The two leaders identified promising avenues for strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation. Both sides underscored the necessity of providing legislative support for the initiatives launched by their presidents, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Ashimbayev highlighted the positive impact of the strong and respectful ties between Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Kyrgyzstan’s leadership, which have significantly bolstered bilateral relations. He cited President Tokayev’s official visit to Kyrgyzstan in August and the 7th session of the Supreme Interstate Council as pivotal moments that accelerated cooperation.
“During these events, numerous important agreements were signed to enhance trade, economic collaboration, transport and logistics, water and energy sectors, as well as cultural, humanitarian, and interregional ties. These key steps contribute to further strengthening the friendly relations between our countries,” Ashimbayev said.
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the steady progress in bilateral ties. He noted that the partnership between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan has reached a new level in recent years.
“Our heads of state continue their active efforts to deepen the strategic partnership. Bilateral cooperation is expanding dynamically across all sectors. Our parliaments work closely to ensure the successful implementation of the agreements reached,” he stated.
It was also confirmed that Dushanbe will host the next Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Central Asian States.
