Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced plans to visit the town of Arkalyk in Kostanay region later this year, during a meeting with agrarians in the Akmola region.
Speaking to local farmers, President Tokayev emphasized the importance of prioritizing the Torgay district, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
“This year, I plan to visit Kostanay region. In my Address, I specifically highlighted this region and stressed that special attention must be given to the Torgay district. I will certainly visit Arkalyk this year. I made a promise, and now it is time to fulfill it. The Torgay district must remain in the spotlight,” he said.
During the meeting, the president also announced that the II AgriForum will take place in Astana. He highlighted agricultural developments in Akmola region, noting that the sown area has expanded to 5.5 million hectares, with oilseed crops covering 495,000 hectares.
Arkalyk, situated in Kostanay region, is about 454 kilometers from the regional center of Kostanay and 611 kilometers from the capital, Astana. Founded in 1956 as a settlement for geologists and builders, it gained town status in 1965 and later served as the administrative center of the former Torgay district.
