Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has conferred the Order of Dostyq (Friendship), First Degree on Italian President Sergio Mattarella, in recognition of his significant contributions to strengthening the strategic partnership and friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Italy.
At the formal ceremony, President Tokayev emphasized that the award represents the deep respect and sincere goodwill of the Kazakh people toward the Italian nation, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
He described President Mattarella as a respected global statesman and a leader who enjoys strong support at home.
“You have played a key role in Italy’s growth and prosperity,” President Tokayev said. “Your country has achieved remarkable progress in many sectors and stands among global leaders. Italy is a pioneer in economic innovation, advanced technologies, and sustainable development. Its cultural heritage and history are not only national treasures but also part of the world’s shared legacy.”
The Kazakh leader also lauded Italy’s active role in promoting global peace and security, as well as its efforts to address international challenges, attributing these achievements to Mattarella’s “balanced and visionary leadership.”
Highlighting the evolving partnership between the two nations, President Tokayev pointed to growing political dialogue, economic ties, and cultural exchanges, noting that relations have reached a new level of dynamism.
“Our cooperation within multilateral platforms is also expanding. I deeply value your commitment to this strategic partnership. The agreements reached during your visit will give new impetus to our collaboration,” President Tokayev said.
President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to further advance cooperation with Italy across key sectors, reflecting shared priorities and mutual trust.
The Order of Dostyq, one of Kazakhstan’s highest state honors, is awarded to individuals who make exceptional contributions to fostering friendship and mutual understanding between nations. President Mattarella’s recognition comes amid intensifying engagement between Astana and Rome, marked by deepening cooperation in energy, infrastructure, culture, and green innovation.
