Kazakh President Highlights Envoy’s Role in Boosting Ties With Afghanistan

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met with Special Representative Yerkin Tukumov to emphasize his key role in strengthening ties with Afghanistan, while reaffirming Kazakhstan’s commitment to humanitarian and educational initiatives aimed at promoting security and stability in the country.

During the discussion, President Tokayev emphasized the importance of Tukumov’s mission to enhance cooperation between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, with a focus on trade, economic development, and humanitarian assistance, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The president also stressed the value of utilizing the resources and expertise of the UN Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), headquartered in Almaty, to support sustainable development initiatives across Central Asia and Afghanistan.

In a related development, the two countries recently signed a memorandum establishing the fundamental principles for the construction and operation of a railway that will connect Central and Southern Asia, aiming to strengthen regional integration and economic connectivity.
