Kazakhstan Becomes Global Mining Hub as 70 Companies Unveil Cutting-Edge Innovations

Kazakhstan's capital Astana has become a major hub for mining innovation as companies from 15 countries gather at the 16th Astana Mining & Metallurgy Congress 2026, presenting cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of the industry.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reviewed the exhibition’s latest solutions, highlighting Kazakhstan’s growing focus on modernization, industrial efficiency, and digital transformation in the mining and metallurgical sector, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

This year’s event brings together 70 companies from countries including Australia, Germany, Italy, Canada, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the US, Uzbekistan, France, Sweden, and others. The wide international participation underscores the sector’s global importance and Kazakhstan’s rising role as a regional industrial leader.

Exhibitors are showcasing technologies ranging from industrial automation and digital mining systems to environmental protection tools, advanced processing methods, and engineering services. Many solutions are focused on improving safety, efficiency, and sustainability in resource extraction.

More than 1,500 delegates from 16 countries are attending the congress, turning Astana into a key meeting point for governments, industry leaders, and experts discussing the future of mining and metallurgy.

Speaking at the event, Bektenov noted that Kazakhstan’s economy grew by 6.5% in 2025, emphasizing that geological exploration remains essential for discovering new deposits and strengthening the country’s resource base.

He also stressed that Kazakhstan’s long-term strategy goes beyond raw material exports, aiming to develop high-value industrial production and strengthen its position in global supply chains.
