Kazakhstan has made a surprising entry into the South Caucasus food market, launching its first-ever exports of pork to Georgia.
Around 500 tonnes of pork products worth approximately $884,000 were supplied in 2025, marking a new milestone for Kazakh agricultural exports, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The shipments include both live livestock and processed meat products, signaling Kazakhstan’s first serious attempt to enter the Georgian pork market. Officials say that if demand continues to grow, export volumes could be significantly expanded.
Interest in further cooperation was also confirmed during recent talks between agricultural authorities of both countries.
Pork remains a relatively new export category for Kazakhstan. In 2025, total pork exports reached:
1,800 tonnes
Worth $3.6 million
Key destinations include:
Russia
Georgia
Armenia
Beyond meat products, trade between Kazakhstan and Georgia is already diversified. Kazakhstan exports grain, flour, and other agricultural goods, with total bilateral agricultural trade exceeding $116 million.
While current pork export volumes remain modest, officials see strong potential for growth as Kazakhstan continues to diversify its agricultural export markets and strengthen ties with the South Caucasus region.
