Kazakhstan Cracks Down on Medically Unfit Drivers

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Healthcare, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has launched a nationwide campaign to identify citizens medically unfit to drive.

Through digital integration between the two ministries and the connection of the Internal Affairs system to the Healthcare Ministry’s “Electronic Register of Dispensary Patients,” authorities analyzed data on 369,888 registered patients, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The review revealed that 273,819 individuals had never been issued driving licenses. Among the remaining 96,069 people, 41,677 licenses were already invalid, while 54,392 remained active.

By December 10, 2025, judicial authorities received 4,540 lawsuits, resulting in 1,787 driving licenses being canceled due to medical unfitness.
