Kazakhstan Expands Rural Healthcare with 600 New Facilities

Kazakhstan is nearing a major milestone in its Modernization of Rural Healthcare drive, as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva chaired a government meeting to review progress on the nationwide project.

Launched in 2023 under the instructions of the Head of State, the initiative focuses on expanding access to quality medical care in rural areas by building new primary healthcare facilities, upgrading central district hospitals, and strengthening medical staffing, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

According to the update, 645 of 655 planned primary healthcare facilities have already been completed. Among them, 226 facilities were built in villages that previously had no medical infrastructure, while 419 replaced outdated or unsuitable buildings. The remaining 10 facilities are scheduled to be commissioned by the end of this year.

Following the meeting, Balayeva instructed regional authorities to ensure timely completion of construction and installation works, strengthen project oversight, and eliminate any administrative barriers that could delay implementation.
