Kazakhstan, Germany Unite for Central Asia Farming Hub

Kazakhstan and Germany are joining forces to establish a Regional Center for Sustainable Agriculture for Central Asia at the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Plant Growing.

The initiative was discussed during the 18th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in Berlin, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The center aims to boost agricultural productivity across Central Asia while addressing the growing challenges of climate change. Key goals include the transfer of knowledge and technology, professional training, and promotion of sustainable farming practices. Practical work will be carried out at the institute in Almaty Region, coordinated by Kazakhstan’s National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center.

The concept was developed in collaboration with the Kazakhstan-Germany Agricultural Policy Dialogue and reflects a broader push for regional cooperation in agriculture. At GFFA, Kazakhstan also participated in Green Week, showcasing 20 local companies and highlighting the country’s export-oriented agricultural products, organic farming, and modern agrotechnologies.

Discussions at the forum emphasized opportunities in digital farming, AI-based solutions, and value-added agricultural processing, alongside strengthening trade and investment partnerships. The center is expected to serve as a hub for innovation, education, and sustainable growth in Central Asian agriculture, reinforcing Kazakhstan’s role as a regional leader in the sector.
