Contestants of the Silk Way Star vocal competition have arrived in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, ahead of the highly anticipated event. Among the participants are vocalists from Azerbaijan, Mongolia, and Kyrgyzstan-Sabina Zadeh, Michelle Joseph, and singer Tamga.

The artists were warmly welcomed at the airport with traditional national treats and music, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

In interviews, they expressed enthusiasm about showcasing their countries’ cultural heritage and introducing innovative musical styles to television audiences.

Performers from 12 countries are expected to take part in the Asian vocal contest, with filming of the TV show beginning on August 26.

Michelle Joseph, representing Mongolia, said, “It’s a very big honor to me to represent Mongolia and share my music and my traditions with other cultures in Central Asia. My songs are mixed with Mongolian traditional music. Also, I write my lyrics, I include the Mongolian philosophical things in the lyrics. I don’t have any competitors, because I always want to learn from others.”

Tamga, from Kyrgyzstan, added, “This is an incredible opportunity for me to perform and showcase myself at such a high international level.”

Earlier reports confirmed that singer ALEM (Batyrkhan Malikov) will represent Kazakhstan at the Silk Way Star international vocal competition.
