Kazakhstan, Hungary Reach Agreement on Oil Supply and Joint Energy Initiatives

The Kazakh capital Astana hosted Monday a meeting of Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó.

The meeting focused on the current state and prospects for developing both countries’ energy sector, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

Special attention was placed to cooperation between KazMunayGas and MOL Group in the gas and oil sector.

The importance was stressed to develop efficiently the gas condensate field Rozhkovskoye, in which both companies are involved. Supply of Kazakhstani oil to Hungary through Druzhba pipeline was discussed, with the sides agreed on trial supplies in 2025.

The Kazakhstani side expressed the interest in Hungary’s experience in producing dry cooling towers for nuclear power plants, especially those used by MVM Group.

Following the meeting, the readiness was expressed to further promote mutually beneficial relations in the energy sector and the plans were drawn up to carry out the agreements reached.
