Kazakhstan May Benefit Economically from Middle East Conflict

Timur Suleimenov, Head of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, has explained how the ongoing conflict in the Middle East could have positive economic effects for Kazakhstan.

Suleimenov emphasized that any military actions are unacceptable, but noted that the situation has economic consequences, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Oil prices have risen amid regional unrest, and since a large portion of Kazakhstan’s budget and National Fund comes from oil exports, higher prices could bring significant revenue to the country.

He explained that while the market adjusts gradually, higher oil revenues increase foreign currency inflows, which can help stabilize the tenge.

“Clearly, this does not happen instantly, as oil markets are contracted in advance,” Suleimenov said. “But if high prices persist, it means more export revenue, more currency supply, and a more stable tenge in the near term, assuming no other shocks.”

Experts suggest that Kazakhstan’s economy could see a temporary boost from rising energy prices, even as global tensions continue.
