Kazakhstan is preparing to expand its global logistics network by building international transport terminals in Azerbaijan, Europe, and China.
The announcement was made by Kazakh Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev during a Senate briefing, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
He said the new facilities will function as universal dry ports - large “multihub” logistics centers designed to handle all types of cargo and streamline international freight flows.
“These will be multihubs serving all modes of transport. Xi’an Dry Port is the largest dry port in China, consolidating cargo flows. We collect goods from across China there and send them to their destinations. It is one of the most effective models. We also plan to build a similar dry port in Chengdu,” Sauranbayev noted.
The minister emphasized that Kazakhstan is developing these projects together with international partners.
“We are working with partners. One of the key partners is the Xi’an dry port. In almost all major projects, we cooperate with them - the Xi’an port, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, and partners from the country we are entering,” he said.
