Kazakhstan Plans to Purchase Two Cargo Vessels in Azerbaijan With Capacity for 700 Containers Each

Kazakh Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev has announced that Kazakhstan intends to buy two cargo ships in Azerbaijan, each capable of carrying 700 containers.

“To boost container transportation across the Caspian Sea by 2027, we plan to acquire two ships in Azerbaijan with a capacity of 700 containers each. Work is also underway to expand the throughput of the railway line leading to the ports,” Sauranbayev said at a government meeting, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

He added that these projects will increase the handling capacity of the ports of Aktau and Kuryk to 30 million tons.
