Kazakhstan's Air Astana Airbus Turns Back After Cabin Smoke

An Air Astana Airbus A321neo operating a scheduled flight from Kazakhstan's Almaty to Astana was forced to return to its departure airport after smoke was detected in the cabin.

According to preliminary information, no passengers or crew members were injured. The aircraft landed safely in Almaty at 07:40 (GMT+5), The Caspian Post reports via Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport.

Airport fire and emergency rescue services were deployed as a precaution to ensure flight safety. Kazakhstan’s Department for the Investigation of Transport Accidents and Incidents has launched an inquiry to determine the exact circumstances of the incident, the ministry said.
