Kazakhstan, Serbia Launch Direct Flights Between Astana and Belgrade

Kazakhstan and Serbia have officially launched direct flights connecting Astana and Belgrade, marking a new chapter in the countries’ diplomatic and economic ties.

The inaugural flight took off on November 3, following instructions from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The ceremony at Astana International Airport was attended by top officials, including Kazakh Transport Deputy Minister Talgat Lastayev, SCAT Airlines President Vladimir Denisov, Serbian Ambassador Vladimir Jovičić, and airport executives.

The new route was established after President Tokayev’s official visit to Serbia, with support from the Kazakh Foreign Ministry and embassy in Belgrade. Upon arrival in Serbia, the delegation was welcomed by National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabić and Transport Deputy Minister Verica Ječmenica, reflecting the importance of the launch for bilateral relations.

“This route will create new opportunities for business, tourism, and cultural exchange between our nations,” said Lastayev. Kazakhstan and Serbia maintain a visa-free regime, making travel between the countries seamless.

SCAT Airlines will operate the Astana-Belgrade-Astana route twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays using Boeing 737 aircraft. Each flight will take approximately five hours and 40 minutes.

The launch of this route follows Kazakhstan’s plan to start direct flights between Almaty and Warsaw in March 2026, further expanding the country’s international connectivity.
