Kazakhstan Set to Join Abraham Accords After Historic Oval Office Call with Trump, Netanyahu

In a major diplomatic breakthrough, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced his country’s intention to join the Abraham Accords, following a joint phone conversation with US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held during a meeting in the Oval Office.

During the call, President Tokayev praised President Trump’s achievements in the Middle East, highlighting his “remarkable results once considered unattainable” and crediting him for laying the foundation for lasting peace, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Kazakhstan’s decision to join the historic peace framework marks a significant step in the country’s multilateral diplomacy. President Tokayev stressed that this move aims to reduce regional tensions, promote dialogue, and uphold international law under the UN Charter - while reaffirming that it will not affect Kazakhstan’s existing bilateral commitments.

President Trump welcomed the decision, calling it a “powerful signal of unity and hope for a more peaceful world.” With this announcement, Kazakhstan becomes the first nation to join the Abraham Accords during Trump’s second term in office.

President Tokayev’s visit to Washington, D.C., also includes participation in the C5+1 Summit and high-level meetings with senior US officials. Earlier in the trip, he met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, members of Congress including Jimmy Panetta, Carol Miller, Bill Huizenga, and Sydney Kamlager-Dove, and business leaders such as Chevron CEO Michael Wirth and John Deere CIS President Csaba Lejko.

Additionally, Kazakhstan and the US signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand cooperation on critical minerals - a move expected to deepen economic and strategic ties between the two nations.
