Kazakhstan to Join Abraham Accords, Trump Hails Major Step Forward in Global Peace

Kazakhstan has agreed in principle to join the Abraham Accords, becoming the first nation to do so during US President Donald Trump’s second term.

Trump announced the development following a phone call between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, calling it “a major step forward in building bridges across the world.” A formal signing ceremony is expected soon, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

“Kazakhstan is the first country of my second term to join the Abraham Accords, the first of many,” Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social. “More nations are lining up to embrace peace and prosperity through my Abraham Accords. We will soon announce a signing ceremony to make it official, and there are many more countries trying to join this club of strength.”

The Abraham Accords, first launched in 2020, established diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab states, including the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan.

President Tokayev arrived in Washington, D.C., for an official visit, beginning with meetings at the White House with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other administration officials. During his visit, Kazakhstan and the US signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in critical minerals.

Tokayev also met members of the US House of Representatives, including Jimmy Panetta, Carol Miller, Bill Huizenga, and Sydney Kamlager-Dove, and held talks with Chevron CEO Michael Wirth, Senator Steve Daines, and John Deere CIS president Csaba Lejko.

Kazakhstan’s decision to join the Abraham Accords marks a historic step in the country’s international diplomacy and strengthens ties with Israel and the United States.
