The official opening of the Peace and Accord Park, a symbol of friendship and unity among different ethnic groups and faiths, has been held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The ceremony was attended by delegates of the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The park is centered around the Tree of Life. Its dome, shaped like a celestial tent, signifies the unity of all peoples, while its four entrances-facing East, West, South, and North-represent equality and openness. At its core stands an oak tree, whose roots connect to the past, trunk represents the present, and crown reaches toward the future.

Kazakh Senate Speaker and Congress Secretariat Head Maulen Ashimbayev called the park a powerful emblem of unity, trust, peace, and harmony. He noted that trees historically symbolize life, growth, and prosperity, and emphasized that the park provides hope for all, regardless of religion or ethnicity. Ashimbayev added that the Peace and Accord Park, located in the heart of Astana, aims to serve as a spiritual bridge linking religions and cultures, especially during challenging times.
The park’s designers revealed that each of the dome’s four walls contains distinct symbols and secrets. The project was first envisioned during the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in 2022, which included notable participants such as Pope Francis, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed el-Tayeb, and the Chief Rabbis of Israel.
The 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions opened on September 17 in Astana, under the theme “Dialogue of Religions: Synergy for the Future.”
