Police Uncover Massive Drug Precursor Stockpile in Kazakhstan

A major drug-related cache has been uncovered in Astana, Kazakhstan, where police seized around four tons of chemical precursors used to produce synthetic drugs.

Police officers continue to expose illegal schemes involving the production and distribution of drugs. Criminal groups rely on chemical precursors, using hidden supply chains for purchasing, storage, and transportation, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The large stash was discovered inside a garage complex, where officers found nearly 200 canisters filled with chemicals. In total, more than 11 tons of precursors have been seized from illegal circulation nationwide.

Experts say the confiscated substances could have been used to produce up to 1.5 tons of synthetic drugs - highlighting the scale of the threat.

Kazakhstan has tightened its laws, introducing criminal liability for illegal handling of precursors starting January 1. Offenders now face up to 15 years in prison, marking a tougher stance against drug-related crimes.
