Thai AirAsia X will begin direct flights between Thailand's Bangkok and Kazakhstan's Almaty starting December 1, 2025, operating four times per week.
The route launch follows a meeting between Almaty’s Tourism Department and a delegation from Thai AirAsia X, headed by CEO Pattra Boosarawongse, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
City tourism officials say the new route will raise Almaty’s visibility in Southeast Asia and improve access for travellers from Malaysia, Singapore, and beyond. “This will strengthen Almaty’s position as an international destination,” said one official.
To promote the service, Almaty Tourism Bureau LLP and Thai AirAsia X are collaborating on a dual-pronged marketing campaign. The digital component, presently live on social media in Malaysia and Singapore, features branded videos and visuals showcasing the convenience and appeal of the new Bangkok-Almaty flights.
Offline marketing efforts are also in motion. Soon, billboards depicting Almaty’s landmarks-such as its mountain vistas, the Kok-Tobe cable car, and the Medeu Ice Rink-will appear in prominent locations around Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, according to a press release from Almaty’s tourism authorities.
