Central Asia Backs Kyrgyzstan’s 2027–2028 UN Security Bid

At the UN headquarters in New York, the permanent representatives of Central Asian countries have held a joint briefing spotlighting regional unity on the global stage.

The diplomats informed the international community about a signed appeal from Central Asian heads of state urging UN member states to support Kyrgyzstan’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027-2028, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

Uzbekistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, noted that the region’s leaders view Kyrgyzstan’s candidacy as a shared effort to strengthen Central Asia’s role in promoting global peace and security. The appeal underscores unified regional backing for Kyrgyzstan’s participation in key international decision-making.

Kyrgyzstan’s Permanent Representative, Aida Kasymalieva, thanked neighboring states for their support, stressing that this solidarity reflects the region’s commitment to peace, dialogue, and constructive multilateral cooperation.
