Fuel Prices in Kyrgyzstan Hold Steady Despite Seasonal Uptick in March

Fuel prices in Kyrgyzstan remain stable despite a gradual increase in March, as authorities move to keep the market balanced and avoid sharp spikes.

Beishe Satygulov, head of the Department for Regulated Sectors at the Antimonopoly Regulation Service under the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy, said that the domestic fuel market saw prices decline by up to 3 soms per liter earlier this year before seasonal factors triggered a modest rebound, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Between January and March 2026, gasoline and diesel prices dropped across the country depending on supplier and fuel type. However, by late March, a traditional seasonal increase began to take hold-though officials stress the overall situation remains under control.

Even with the recent uptick, fuel prices in Kyrgyzstan are still lower than in Armenia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, and remain comparable to those in Belarus and Russia.

Authorities say they are closely monitoring the market alongside oil traders and industry groups, keeping profit margins at around just 1 som per liter to prevent excessive pricing.

Looking ahead, officials are preparing contingency measures in case of external pressure. These include potential agreements with Russian refineries to stabilize prices, possible tax relief such as VAT and excise reductions, subsidies, and concessional loans to help suppliers build up reserves.

With proactive oversight and regional price advantages, Kyrgyzstan is aiming to keep fuel affordable-even as global energy markets remain volatile.
