Kyrgyzstan is emerging as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, according to the latest assessment from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
"Based on the 2024 results, Kyrgyzstan is among the global leaders in real GDP growth," said Subir Lall, Assistant Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department, during a meeting with Daniyar Amangeldiev, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
At the meeting, the two sides reviewed Kyrgyzstan’s macroeconomic outlook, the findings of the IMF’s short-term mission, and new avenues for cooperation to support long-term economic stability.
Amangeldiev emphasized that consistent reforms are driving the country’s sustained socioeconomic progress. He noted that Kyrgyzstan’s average annual economic growth rate over the past three years reached 9 percent, while growth for the first ten months of 2025 hit 10 percent.
He also pointed to major national projects such as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, the Kambarata-Ata HPP, the Barskoon-Bedel highway, and an expanding affordable housing program.
IMF representative Subir Lall commended the country’s momentum, stating that steady growth has been observed over the past four years. He added that the Kyrgyz Republic is evolving into an exporting economy and that deeper regional integration will help secure long-term growth.
Lall also noted strong banking sector stability and highlighted the importance of attracting more foreign direct investment to maintain current positive trends. He reaffirmed the IMF’s readiness to continue offering analytical and advisory support to help ensure medium-term macroeconomic stability.
