Kyrgyzstan is set to receive 253.2 million soms ($2,895,368) in grant aid from India, following the signing of two major Memorandums of Cooperation.
Under the first agreement, India will fund the creation of a modern IT laboratory at the Kyrgyz Economic University (KEU) in Bishkek - a project expected to strengthen the country’s digital and educational capabilities, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
The second memorandum focuses on upgrading the technical base and infrastructure of the General Medical Practice Center in Leilek district, Batken region, improving access to quality healthcare in one of the country’s border areas.
Each project will receive 126.6 million soms ($1,447,684), highlighting India’s growing support for Kyrgyzstan’s development in key social sectors.
The documents were signed by India’s Ambassador Birender Singh Yadav on behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs. From the Kyrgyz side, signatures came from Economy and Commerce Minister Bakyt Sydykov, Science and Higher Education Minister Baktiyar Orozov, and Deputy Presidential Representative in Batken region Zhanybek Isakov.
The initiatives are expected to deliver long-term benefits, bolstering Kyrgyzstan’s education and healthcare infrastructure.
