Issyk-Kul Hosts Kyrgyz-German Forum Boosting Bilateral Economic Ties

The Kyrgyz-German Business Forum has been held on the scenic shores of Issyk-Kul as part of the “Germany’s Economy Days in Kyrgyzstan” initiative, bringing together government officials, business leaders, and industry experts from both countries.

Opening the forum, Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev welcomed participants and highlighted the symbolic significance of hosting the event at Issyk-Kul, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.

He noted that the forum completes the first cycle of bilateral business meetings, which began in Hamburg in 2023 and continued in Germany’s economic centers, Frankfurt and Munich.

“Today’s forum is an excellent opportunity to summarize the results of our joint work and discuss the prospects of our partnership not only as colleagues, but also as friends,” Kasymaliev said.

The prime minister emphasized the key areas of Kyrgyz-German cooperation, including:

Kyrgyzstan’s 11.5 per cent GDP growth in January-July 2025,

Simplification of administrative procedures,

Modernization of the tax system, and

Introduction of digital services to attract investment.

Special attention was given to agriculture, climate-resilient and eco-friendly products, positioning Kyrgyzstan as an attractive partner for food processing and export. Kasymaliev also highlighted opportunities in hydropower and renewable energy projects, as well as the strategic importance of the mining sector, particularly in exploring and processing rare metals.

Tourism was another focal point: Germany remains a key partner for Kyrgyzstan, with more than 23,000 German tourists visiting in 2024 and over 10,000 in the first half of 2025. The prime minister underscored the potential for joint projects in ecotourism, hospitality, and cultural initiatives.

“Kyrgyzstan is committed to building an innovative, sustainable, and globally open economy. We are ready to implement joint projects with Germany and to form a strategic partnership based on trust, mutual respect, and constructive cooperation,” Kasymaliev concluded.
