Korea International Cooperation Agency Hosts Civil Society Cooperation Seminar in Kyrgyzstan to Boost Collabor

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has hosted a Civil Society Cooperation Seminar in Kyrgyzstan, providing a platform for Korean and local civil society organizations (CSOs) and international partners to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and strengthen collaborative ties.

The seminar was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea Kim Kwang-jae, KOICA Country Director Lim So Yeon, Chairman of the Korean NGO Association Cho Soonhyoung, along with officials from Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, The Caspian Post reports per Kyrgyz media.

Ambassador Kim emphasized the critical role of civil society in development cooperation, noting that “civil society serves as a key bridge between government and private sector efforts, improving the lives of vulnerable communities and promoting inclusive growth.”

KOICA Country Director Lim highlighted the agency’s long-standing collaboration with civil society, explaining that working closely with both Korean and local CSOs allows KOICA to better tailor development programs to Kyrgyzstan’s specific needs, thereby enhancing their effectiveness.

During the seminar, participants reviewed Kyrgyzstan’s National Development Program through 2030, addressed challenges in healthcare and environmental sectors, and evaluated government strategies to overcome these issues. The event also featured presentations of successful projects and best practices from Korean and local CSOs, fostering productive discussions on future cooperation.

The KOICA Office in Kyrgyzstan reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing engagement with civil society organizations to advance impactful initiatives across rural development, health, education, and environmental sustainability.
