Kyrgyz athlete Nurzat Nurtaeva has achieved an impressive rise to third place in the latest United World Wrestling (UWW) world rankings.
The updated rankings are based on performances at the 2024 World Wrestling Championships, held in Croatia, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
Competing in the 72 kg weight class, Nurtaeva showcased her skill and determination by securing a bronze medal. In the crucial match for third place, she convincingly defeated France’s Pauline Lecarpentier with a score of 5-0.
This podium finish has elevated Nurtaeva to the upper echelons of her category on the global wrestling stage, representing a major achievement in her sporting career.
Adding to Kyrgyzstan’s wrestling acclaim, fellow athlete Aiperi Medet kyzy holds the top position in the 76 kg weight division, highlighting the nation’s growing strength and reputation in international women’s wrestling competitions.
