Kyrgyz Flag Rises at Dostuk as Border Zone Gets New Look

A 45-meter flagpole flying the Kyrgyz national flag has been installed at the Dostuk checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border, transforming the area into a modern recreational zone.

The project, initiated by Osh Mayor Zhenishbek Toktorbaev, involved demolishing a former gas station, landscaping the site, paving walkways, and installing benches, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The state flag was ceremonially raised, marking the official commissioning of the upgraded space.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the mayor, City Council Chairman Bolot Bayetov, MPs, consuls from neighboring countries, and local residents. Toktorbaev personally inspected the site during the planning phase, ensuring the project met the city’s standards for public comfort and aesthetics.

The renovation aims to enhance the appearance of the border zone while providing a pleasant and functional area for residents and visitors near this key checkpoint.
