Kyrgyzstan’s national Greco-Roman wrestling team has delivered an outstanding performance at the international Poland Open in Warsaw, clinching three gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
The tournament, which features elite wrestlers from around the world, is set to conclude on August 4, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
In the 63 kg category, Kyrgyz wrestler Zholaman Sharshenbekov made a powerful debut, defeating a Kazakh opponent in under two minutes to secure gold. This was his first competition in this new weight class, having previously wrestled at 60 kg.
Kyrgyz wrestler Akyl Sulaimanov triumphed in the 60 kg final, overcoming a Ukrainian contender to add another gold to the team’s tally.
A third gold came in the 55 kg division, where Akyikat Kulzhigit uulu bested his Georgian rival in the championship match.
In the 67 kg category, Razzak Beyshekeyev earned silver after a hard-fought final against another Georgian athlete.
The team also took home three bronze medals, with Yryskeldi Khamzaev, Yryskeldi Maksatbek uulu, and Asan Zhanyshov each reaching the podium in their respective categories.
The Poland Open continues serving as a major platform for international wrestling talent and a key preparatory event for upcoming championships.
