The Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security has announced disciplinary action against officials from Karakol’s law enforcement and education sectors for failing to properly carry out their duties.
The investigation followed a complaint from a parent committee representative of Grade 9 “A” at Secondary School No. 7, submitted to Chairman of the State Committee for National Security and Deputy Prime Minister Kamchybek Tashiev. The statement cited repeated incidents of violence within the school, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Investigators found that the responsible authorities had not conducted adequate preventive work with minors, nor had they fulfilled their obligations to reduce juvenile crime and promote moral and spiritual education among youth.
As a result of the State Committee for National Security's resolution, the head of the Karakol city education department and the city juvenile affairs inspector have been dismissed. Several other police and municipal officials faced disciplinary measures, including reprimands, strict reprimands, and declarations of partial unsuitability for their positions.
Additionally, pupils of School No. 7 and a college student have been placed under special police supervision.
To prevent similar incidents, the GKNB recommended that the Ministry of Education, the Presidential Representative Office in Issyk-Kul, the Karakol city administration, the regional police department, and other relevant bodies implement additional preventive measures, strengthen educational and mentorship programs, and ensure the enforcement of the state concept for crime prevention for 2022-2028.
Investigations are ongoing.
