Chairman of Russian‑Kyrgyz Development Fund Artem Novikov has said that Kyrgyzstan is embarking on a sweeping overhaul of its logistics infrastructure, aiming for full implementation by 2030.
Novikov described the initiative as not a single project, but a nationwide system of logistics hubs, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The programme will include upgraded border checkpoints and sprawling logistics centres along transportation corridors with neighboring Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China, as well as modern storage and handling facilities at airports and rail terminals.
A key milestone in this transformation was the launch of the Kokcho‑Koz logistics centre near Osh. The facility, located along the Irkeshtam-Osh corridor, includes customs infrastructure, warehouse space and truck loading zones. It is designed to handle up to 500-700 trucks per day and alleviate freight congestion in the region.
Novikov emphasized the wider economic benefits: “This comprehensive infrastructure will boost the flow of goods through Kyrgyzstan - creating jobs, generating tax and transit revenues, and growing our customs base.”
The project reflects a broader increase in funding by the Russian‑Kyrgyz Development Fund, which is expected to finance over $161 million of investment projects in 2025 - a nearly 8 per cent increase over the previous year.
