Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye Remove Barriers to Boost Trade Turnover to $5 Billion

Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, met with Mekin Mustafa Kemal Okem, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Kyrgyz Republic, according to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye in the political, trade, economic and agricultural spheres, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.

Particular attention was paid to issues of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. It was noted that the leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey have set the task of increasing the volume of trade turnover to 5 billion US dollars.

In this regard, negotiations are underway to eliminate existing technical barriers in bilateral trade and to introduce preferential customs tariffs to establish exports of Kyrgyz agricultural products to Turkiye.

The significant role of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan was also noted.
